For the convenience of road users nationwide, the Taiwan Area National Freeway Bureau (TANFB) decided to embark on a large scale project, setting up more than 100 IP surveillance cameras along primary sections of the national freeway. The system is to provide live video images through the use of web browsers, enabling the public to view and be aware of situations on the freeway before hitting the road.
The surveillance system planning involves upgrading from analog to digital network infrastructure. With features such as 24/7 surveillance, digital video compression, instantaneous video broadcasting through internet, the system delivers accurate first hand information to users.
